A 29-year-old cornerback for the New York Jets is currently in critical yet stable condition following a shooting incident that took place early Saturday morning in New York City.

WASHINGTON — Law enforcement officials have distributed surveillance images showing the suspect they believe is responsible for the shooting of Jets cornerback Kris Boyd. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday in Midtown Manhattan, leaving Boyd in a critical but stable condition.

According to reports from the New York Post, the shooting took place at around 2 a.m. on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue. Sources within law enforcement revealed that the altercation took place outside the Sei Less restaurant and escalated to violence, resulting in the gunman firing two shots, hitting Boyd in the abdomen.

The NYPD has issued a Crime Stoppers alert describing the suspect, who fled east on West 38th Street and remains at large. He is described as having a medium complexion and was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-colored sneakers, and carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via @NYPDTips.

Boyd was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was said to be in critical but stable condition, an NYPD spokesperson previously confirmed to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

A Jets spokesperson told ESPN, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”

Boyd is in his first season with the Jets after signing in free agency in March. He has spent the year on injured reserve. Drafted by Minnesota in the seventh round in 2019, he has also played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.
