The 23-year-old, who previously spent time in Barcelona’s academy, has gained recent loan experience with Hull City, Stockport County and Sheffield United.

Wednesday are also set to bring in striker Harry Gray, the brother of Tottenham midfielder Archie Gray, on loan from Leeds United.

West Ham have made an enquiry to sign Sunderland winger Simon Adingra on loan.

The 24-year-old joined Sunderland from Brighton a year ago but left to join Monaco on loan in January.

The Principality side would like to re-sign the Ivory Coast international but face competition with the relegated Hammers among a growing list of suitors.

Ipswich Town and Hull City have also got Adingra on their lists but have to be careful over domestic loans, being allowed only two from rival Premier League sides.

West Ham are weighing up wingers with Crysencio Summerville expected to depart amid interest from the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Twist in Gueye’s Everton future

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye could yet stay at the club.

Contract talks have failed to find a resolution for the 36-year-old whose old deal expired last week.

He turns 37 in September and Everton have signed £16m Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough but David Moyes still wants more bodies for midfield. They have been offered Parma’s Mandela Keita but not moved on it so far.

They have yet to confirm Gueye’s departure as there is still a slim prospect of a new offer tempting him to stay.

Everton complete George deal

Everton have completed the permanent signing of England Under-21 international forward Tyrique George from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £18million plus £6m in bonuses.

The fee is understood to be a £6m reduction in the original fee that was attached by Chelsea to George’s purchase clause on him joining on loan in January.

The attacker has signed a four-year contract with the Toffees until the end of June 2030, having spent the second half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan with the club.

George’s signing follows the addition of Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough, and Merlin Rohi having completed the formality of a permanent move to Everton after his season long loan from SC Freiburg.

Everton still want to add a right-back and another striker and midfielder.

They are among the clubs in for Karl Darlow as Coventry want reserve goalkeeper Mark Travers while they may yet revive talks with Manchester City for Jack Grealish if a compromise can be reached.

After committing his long-term future to the Blues, George told evertonfc.com: ‘I loved my time here on loan last season, so as soon as I knew it was a possibility to return, that’s always what I wanted.’

London-born George made 11 appearances for Everton last term, after joining on loan on deadline day of the winter transfer window.

The 20-year-old began at Chelsea, joining the west London club aged eight.

He took up the role in October 2024, but now leaves with immediate effect.

A club statement added: ‘The club would like to thank Jared for his efforts throughout his time at Hull City, particularly for his contribution to our promotion to the Premier League, and wish him well for the future.’

Tottenham confirmed the signing of Sandro Tonali on Monday morning

Tonali signed for Newcastle in 2023 but missed most of his first season in English football when hit with a 10-month gambling ban, before returning to become part of the powerful midfield trio with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton which helped drive Eddie Howe’s team to lift the League Cup in 2025.

Tonali said: ‘Three years ago I came to Newcastle not really knowing what to expect. Today it’s time to say goodbye and it’s hard to find the right words.

‘Above all, I want to speak directly to the fans. When things were hard for me, you were there. Not for one day did I feel alone. I felt it every time I was at St James’ Park. That’s something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.’
