A woman from Texas is accused of confessing to the murder of her mother and stepfather, allegedly with the help of an accomplice, before disposing of their bodies in a ravine.

Cassandra Lange, along with Joby Williams, faces charges of capital murder for the deaths of her 54-year-old mother, Cherry Rehbein, and 58-year-old stepfather, Stephen, in the town of Mico, Texas.

The Medina County Sheriff’s Office reported that law enforcement officers discovered signs of foul play when they conducted a welfare check at Stephen’s residence at 1:00 p.m. on April 8, following his failure to appear at work.

Upon further investigation, officials returned to the scene and uncovered more evidence indicating a crime had taken place.

Utilizing vehicle tracking technology, police traced one of Stephen’s vehicles to Corpus Christi, Texas. When officers stopped the car, they found Lange, 29, Williams, 30, and two children aged six and one month inside.

The car was pulled over and police found Lange, 29, Williams, 30, and two children — aged six years and a one-month-old — inside.

A County Chief Deputy and a Texas Ranger traveled to Corpus Christi and interviewed the pair, and Langed proceeded to confess to the grizzly crime, the MCSO said.

“During the interview, Lange confessed that she and Williams had killed her mother and stepfather and disposed of their bodies in a ravine,” officials said.

Investigators immediately searched for the bodies near the Medina Lake area, but were hampered due to nighttime conditions.

After several hours of searching, police recovered two large trash bags containing bodies in a remote area not visible from the road.

The corpses were sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Lang and Williams were taken into custody and the two children were placed with Child Protective Services and are set to be put into the care of relatives, the MCSO stated.

The two have each been placed on $1,000,000 bonds.
