He traded the ball and chain for handcuffs.

A Florida man reportedly broke into an unfamiliar home and stayed there for multiple days to steer clear of his upset wife after they had a quarrel, as stated by authorities.

Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a neighbor in Davenport. The neighbor, who was responsible for keeping an eye on the property while the owner was away, noticed unusual activities on June 9, the department’s report detailed.

When cops walked in, the man, identified as Joe, 44, was cooking himself dinner and had just run a luxurious bath.

“We presume the bath’s temperature was neither too hot nor too cold, but just right,” officials from Polk County humorously remarked, alluding to the classic tale “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.”

Joe admitted to cops that he did not have permission to be there and that he had no idea who owned the home, the release said.

The 44-year-old justified the infraction by revealing that he had gotten into a fight with his wife four days earlier and broke into the random house to avoid returning home to face her wrath.

Despite the excuse, Joe was hit with felony unarmed burglary, misdemeanor petit theft, and domestic battery, the Miami Herald reported.
