A HOSPITAL worker was murdered, chopped up and dumped in a bin – allegedly by his own mother and girlfriend.

The body of 35-year-old Alessandro Venier was found dismembered at his residence in the quaint town of Gemona del Friuli, located in northeast Italy near the border with Slovenia.

His body was reportedly buried in quick lime to mask the stench of it.

The alleged culprits behind Alessandro’s murder are his mother, Lorena Venier, who works as a nurse, and his 30-year-old Colombian girlfriend. Together, they had a six-month-old child.

The pair are understood to have already confessed to the grisly murder, reports ANSA, and charges are expected to be laid in the coming days.

Alessandro is believed to have been killed several days ago, and his death has rocked the town of just 10,000.

His remains were discovered by Italian Carabinieri on Thursday after they received a call from one of the women.

Both have been taken into the local police station for questioning.

The hospital worker had been drugged before his murder, according to La Republica.

His body was hacked up into several pieces and stuffed into a large bin in the cellar.

Layers of quicklime had then been poured over it in an apparent attempt to hide the body and any smell.

Any potential motive remains a mystery.

His 61-year-old mother is a well-known face in the town, and residents are horrified by the apparent murder, local media reports.

Roberto Revelant, the town’s mayor, said: “Nothing like this has ever happened here before.

“It’s a terrible thing, it’s heart-wrenching.”

He said that Alessandro had dreamed of one day moving to Colombia.

The mayor added: “The whole community is rallying around the baby. We are working with social services to make sure she is safe.”

It’s understood the baby has been taken into care.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out on Alessandro’s remains.
