A group of masked thieves allegedly turned Halloween treats into a frightening ordeal in an Oregon coastal town.
The all-black-clad suspects reportedly intimidated trick-or-treaters and forcibly took candy bags from children, according to the Lincoln City Police Department.
Police said the group wore dark clothing and ski masks while targeting costumed children making their rounds on Halloween night.
One local resident described the encounter in a comment beneath the department’s post: “They came and asked my daughter for candy, thankfully her uncle called her inside.” The commenter added, “You’re getting free candy guys, knock it off!!!”
Police described the suspects only as a “group of males.”
Authorities have not said how many people were involved or released an estimated age for the suspected thieves.

The group was last spotted near Northeast Voyage Avenue and Northeast Port Lane, police said.
In Oregon, stealing property through the use of force can be charged as robbery, according to police.
The Lincoln City Police Department is urging anyone with information about the alleged Halloween thefts to contact investigators.
