Teenage girl tragically shot and killed in Brunswick

Police say two suspects have been arrested and charged with the murder of a 14-year-old girl in Brunswick.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The Brunswick Police Department has reported that a 14-year-old girl had been shot and killed inside a house on Saturday evening.

Police say that at around 8 P.M., officers responded to the house on Altima Avenue in reference to a victim with a gunshot wound.

In the early stages of the investigation, authorities reported that an “acquaintance” within the home was responsible for shooting the victim. Two individuals were apprehended at the location and have now been transferred to the custody of the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office.

The “acquaintance” was identified as Daquarius Wallace, 17, who police say was mishandling the firearm. He is charged with the following:

  • Murder and cruelty to children in the second degree
  • Possession of a firearm by a person under 18 
  • Reckless conduct.

The second suspect, 21, is charged with the following:

  • Cruelty to children in the second degree
  • Theft by receiving stolen property
  • Reckless conduct
  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor

First Coast News has reached out to the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office in hopes to learn more about both suspects.
