Reps. Chuy Garcia and Delia Ramirez are set to address the media outside the Broadview Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing facility regarding recent regional operations later this Saturday morning.
On Friday, protesters gathered outside the ICE detention center, with footage capturing what seems to be the deployment of pepper balls on some demonstrators that evening. The video also depicts at least one demonstrator being forcibly removed.

Other northwest suburbs also witnessed demonstrations on Friday night following an incident where an ICE agent allegedly shot and killed a man in Franklin Park earlier that day.
According to federal agents, they attempted a traffic stop when Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, identified by the Department of Homeland Security as an undocumented individual with a history of reckless driving, allegedly drove towards the officer, dragging him in the process.
That’s when, officials say, the officer fired shots, striking Villegas-Gonzalez, who later died at the hospital.
ABC7 obtained cellphone footage showing ICE officers pulling the man from his wrecked vehicle near Grand and Elder Lane. Due to graphic content, ABC7 opted to freeze the video.

A DHS statement included, “We are praying for the swift recovery of our law enforcement officer. He adhered to his training, applied necessary force, and appropriately enforced the law to protect both the public and law enforcement personnel.”
Villegas-Gonzalez’ girlfriend and stepdaughter, who asked ABC7 not to show their faces, say he was a working 38-year-old father of three from Mexico who has lived in the United States for more than 20 years.
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker called Friday’s events in Franklin Park troubling.
