Authorities report that a woman in Georgia was allegedly discovered “covered in blood” at a Dollar General after allegedly stabbing a father to death at a nearby home.
“She was just standing there,” Detective Brandon Fincher, of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, told the Dalton Daily Citizen.
Requiya Reynolds, 33, is charged with murdering 59-year-old Michael Cronan at a residence in Whitfield County, not far from the Dollar General on Beaverdale Road in Dalton where she was located on Wednesday night, as stated by local authorities.
Both the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation launched investigations following a 911 call around 11 p.m. that reported Reynolds arriving at the discount store after the alleged stabbing. She allegedly informed first responders that she had attacked Cronan inside a home on the 2000 block of Dawnville Beaverdale Road, leaving him in the living room with multiple stab wounds.
“The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a female covered in blood at the Dollar General,” a statement from WCSO indicates. “Deputies went to 2215 Dawnville Beaverdale Road and found Michael Cronan deceased in the living room.”
Reynolds was arrested and taken to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, where she faces a murder charge. She is currently held without bail, and authorities have not disclosed any motive for the alleged attack on Cronan.
“Everyone please pray for my family, my brother Michael Cronan was murdered Wednesday night,” wrote Cronan’s sister, Angie Cronan-Paige, on Facebook last week following his death. An obituary for Cronan describes him as someone who enjoyed “spending time with his family and friends,” including his son and daughter-in-law, and that he “never met a stranger,” per the description.
“Michael will be remembered most for his loyal heart and steadfast devotion to the people in his life,” the obituary says. “His warmth and genuine kindness made everyone feel like a lifelong friend. Michael’s compassion, sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty earned him the deep respect and love of all who knew him.”
