University of Chicago condemns violence but dodges questions about professor arrested in anti-ICE riots

“At this point, you are either choosing to protect our neighbors and safeguard our community, or you’re siding with this administration. There’s no neutral stance in this situation. There is no middle ground anymore. You’re either in resistance or you’re complicit,” she emphasized.

Abdelhadi is also a known far-left entity and anti-Israel activist whose social media accounts often reference a “genocide” in Gaza.

She made national headlines when she cursed out her own employer at the Socialism 2025 conference earlier this year. 

“F— the University of Chicago, it’s evil, and you know it’s a colonial landlord. So, why would I invest my political energy in this environment? I kind of looked down on people who spent their time focusing on that,” she stated.

“As it happens, I work at one of the largest employers in Chicago. I work at an institution that acts as a landlord, a healthcare provider, and even a police force—f— that s——but still, it is. It’s also a place where I have the chance to reach thousands of people whom I could potentially organize… actually, this is where I need to build power. That’s where structural leverage is possible,” she explained.
