Authorities in New Jersey apprehended a Staten Island resident on Friday after he allegedly wielded a real knife and issued threats when refused entry to a local Halloween gathering. The man, dressed in a police officer costume, sparked the incident that led to his arrest, officials reported.

John Bekhet, aged 19, now faces multiple charges, including making terroristic threats and unlawful weapon possession, connected to the event that unfolded in Gloucester County during the early morning hours.

The Glassboro Police Department recounted that just before 2 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North Main Street following reports of a man brandishing a knife and making threats after being turned away from the party.

A spokesperson from the Glassboro police humorously noted in a statement, “Ironically, he was dressed as a police officer.”

Law enforcement quickly identified and apprehended Bekhet after a brief pursuit on foot, according to police reports.

The knife allegedly used in the confrontation was found nearby, as confirmed by the Glassboro Police Department.

Bekhet was booked into Salem County Jail and charged with terroristic threats, obstruction, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and weapons offenses.

Glassboro, in South Jersey, is about 20 miles southeast of Philadelphia.
