The mother of Brianna Aguilera, a student at Texas A&M University, suspects that her daughter’s sudden death may involve foul play.
As reported by MySA, Austin Police Department officers were called to the 21 Rio Apartments on Saturday following a report of an unresponsive female at the location.
Upon their arrival, first responders declared Aguilera dead just ten minutes into the investigation.
In an official statement, the police clarified, “Currently, the incident is not being treated as a homicide, and there are no signs of suspicious circumstances.”
However, Aguilera’s mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, expressed her belief on Facebook that her daughter’s death was not an accident.
“This was not accidental. Someone killed my Brie and allowed the group of friends enough time to align their stories,” Rodriguez stated on Facebook.
“My daughter would not jump 17 stories from a building and to be labeling this as a suicide is insane.”
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe fundraiser set up by the family that Aguilera, a graduated magna cum laude from United High School, attended the UT vs. Texas A&M tailgate event Friday.
According to ABC 7, police told Rodriguez that underage people were being served alcohol.
Rodriguez reportedly said her daughter ended up at a friend’s apartment with multiple other people, when an argument reportedly started.
“What was weird to me and skeptical was her phone was on Do Not Disturb. We always had this rule that if she was going to go out, she had to have her phone on ‘location on’ and answer her text to at least let me know she was ok,” Stephanie Rodriguez told KGNS.
Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office is in the process of completing an autopsy and toxicology report to determine her cause of death.
The investigation continues. Check back for updates.
