Kathy Griffin, a prominent Hollywood figure, recently made headlines for her previous financial support of Eric Swalwell, a politician facing serious allegations. Griffin is now attempting to distance herself from the beleaguered former congressman.

Having contributed $10,000 to Swalwell’s campaign for California governor, Griffin explained her reasons for backing him. She claimed her decision was based on the belief that only a straight, white man had a realistic chance of winning the election.

During an episode of her podcast, “Talk Your Head Off,” Griffin confessed, “Until this, I was actually supporting Swalwell.”

Griffin was among roughly 1,700 contributors to Swalwell’s unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign, which drew support from numerous high-profile celebrities.

Notable figures such as actors Sean Penn and Robert De Niro, along with entertainment mogul Ari Emanuel and talent agent Michael Kives, contributed significant amounts to Swalwell’s campaign, despite the serious accusations against him.

Griffin commented, “We’re in this era where only freaking white straight guys can win. And so if he’s the one that’s most electable, we don’t want the two Republican challengers.”

Without naming them, Griffin labeled Republican candidates, former Fox News host Steven Hilton and Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco, “crazy.”

“This has kinda rocked our world,” Griffin noted, adding the friends attended recent “No Kings” rallies together.

Griffin went on to praise her guest’s protest sign, which was a picture of shirtless Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. reading, “Ewwww.”
