Recently, RedState highlighted remarks from Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), following what was reported as the third assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in under two years.
Jeffries took to Twitter on Sunday evening, stating, “America will not be lectured about civility by far-right extremists in Congress. Especially those who support hundreds of violent rioters that attacked police officers on January 6.” He concluded with a call for unity, a somewhat contradictory note given that he had just labeled his political opponents, who have legitimate concerns about incendiary language from some Democrats, as “far-right extremists.”
This came after another controversial tweet from Jeffries on Saturday night, in which he failed to mention Trump by name. He expressed gratitude for “swift law enforcement action to protect everyone from gunfire at the White House Correspondents Dinner,” and extended prayers for those still at risk. He emphasized, “The violence and chaos in America must end.”
