A Republican candidate for the Oklahoma state Senate, who was reported missing earlier this week, has been found deceased in a vehicle situated in a remote area.
Barry Christian, a 54-year-old from Sayre who was running for the Senate, disappeared on Tuesday, and his body was discovered two days later, as revealed by his campaign in a statement shared with KOCO.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed to the media outlet that Christian’s gray Ram truck was located near Highway 30, with a body inside.
Authorities announced on Thursday that Barry Christian’s body had been found, according to the Greer County Sheriff’s Office.
The truck’s position near a ravine by the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area complicated the retrieval process, initially delaying the identification of the remains.
Investigators are still probing to ascertain the cause of Christian’s death. The OSBI has yet to respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital for further comments.
Christian was reported missing on Tuesday after he failed to attend a scheduled meeting and was last seen driving the same truck found by officials, according to the Harmon County Sheriff’s Office.

Christian’s campaign site described the District 38 candidate as the “conservative choice” for Senate, vowing to “proudly stand with President Trump” and “fight for the traditional conservative values that make America great” if elected into office.
In a statement to the outlet, Christian’s daughter, Brooklyn, expressed her devastation after receiving the news of her father’s death.
