Karmelo Anthony isolated in jail as prison stint looms for track meet killer

Karmelo Anthony has been placed in isolation following his arrest after being found guilty of murder on Tuesday.

Anthony received a 35-year prison sentence for the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a high school track event in Frisco, Texas.

Upon his conviction, Anthony was transferred to the Collin County Jail, where he is currently held in isolation within the facility’s infirmary, according to reports from the News Agency.

The Collin County Jail has released a new mugshot of Karmelo Anthony.

Although he remained free throughout the trial, Anthony was taken into custody immediately after the guilty verdict was delivered.

Anthony’s next stop is a Texas state prison. It was not immediately clear when he would be transferred.

Anthony faced up to life in prison after being convicted of murder. He will be eligible for parole after serving half of his 35-year sentence.

Anthony has since filed a notice of appeal following his conviction, court records show.
