A police pursuit unfolded in an Australian suburb on Monday afternoon, ending with a 43-year-old man being Tasered and arrested after officers allegedly found him carrying two knives.
Police were called to a shopping centre in Burwood about 4:15 p.m. following reports of suspicious behaviour in the busy retail precinct.
When officers approached two men to speak with them, the pair allegedly took off, prompting police to chase them on foot through the surrounding area.
The pursuit came to an end after officers deployed a Taser and arrested the 43-year-old, who police allege was armed with two knives.
Footage captured at the scene shows two officers moving toward a man wearing black on a pedestrian crossing while nearby traffic remains stopped.
Moments later, one of the officers fires a Taser, causing the man to fall to the ground.
As the man appears to try to stand again, he is Tasered a second time before multiple officers move in to restrain him.
New South Wales Ambulance paramedics treated and assessed the 43-year-old at the scene before he was taken to hospital for further assessment under police guard.
A 32-year-old man was also arrested.
Police inquiries are continuing.
