LOS ANGELES — Chad Power may be running out of time on the field, but his wild football comeback story still has a few plays left.
The trailer for Season 2 of “Chad Powers” has arrived, putting the spotlight back on the oddly magnetic quarterback Chad. As more people learn the truth behind the persona, disgraced former player Russ, played by Glen Powell, is scrambling to protect his “Chad” disguise just long enough to push his team toward the playoffs.
“I haven’t had a lot of real friends in my life,” Russ admits to his partner in deception, Danny, played by Frankie Rodriguez, during a diner scene that opens the trailer. “Until you, basically zero.”
“I don’t want to be earnest!” Danny protests.
Together, the pair have been carefully perfecting Chad’s now-famous collection of signature wigs — a detail that has become common knowledge across town. When Russ heads into the stadium, Catfish football fans crowd the barricades, waving signs and chanting the name of his made-up alter ego. To the community, Chad is not a fraud. He is their beloved college football star.
“You coming to the party tonight?” a college student asks Russ in the cafeteria. “It’s tradition.”
“Ooh, I love tradition,” Russ replies, leaning into Chad’s disguised Southern drawl.
Still, the charade is becoming harder to maintain. Coach Ricky, played by Perry Mattfeld, recently saw through the ruse, and now she is turning up the pressure on Russ to keep the act alive for the rest of the season.

“We are here because you always act so weird all the time,” Ricky scolds.
“I am a man living inside the fake skin of another man,” Russ responds. “It is a weird situation!”
Ricky is an unlikely ally. A coach on the football team, she’s more interested in staving off the craziest football scandal the town’s ever seen than helping Russ. She can’t argue with the results on the field, but off the field is becoming more difficult to maintain.
“What’s the worst that can happen?” Russ asks Danny.
“He finds out you’re Russ Holliday and actually murders you?” Danny suggests about their head coach (Steve Zahn).
The team is closer than ever to glory, but every win is another spotlight on Russ that could stop the clock. Between college drama, identity theft and training for game time, all eyes are on Chad to see if he can pull through for the South Georgia Catfish.
All six episodes of “Chad Powers” Season 2 stream Thursday, Sept. 3 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
