CHICAGO () — ABC7 Chicago investigative reporter Samantha Chatman received recognition Saturday night for her consumer-focused reporting.
Chatman dedicated the honor to her father, DJ Sam Chatman, who died last week.
ABC7 won the regional award for Outstanding Achievement in News Gathering – Business/Consumer/Technology for “Investment Resentment.”
The winning reports were part of Samantha Chatman’s “Sam On Your Side” series.

“I want to dedicate this award to my dad, who passed away two days ago,” Chatman said. “I know that he would want me to be here tonight.”
She said the series carries deeper meaning following her father’s death. “Sam On Your Side” means she stands with consumers, while her father, Sam, remains on her side, she explained.
Sam Chatman, widely known as the Godfather of Steppin’, was 85 years old.
