Neighbors remembered Katie Suarez, the 28-year-old jogger stabbed in the neck Friday night along a popular Brooklyn waterfront promenade, as a kind, family-oriented woman who worked at a local bank.
Suarez was “very professional” and “very kind,” neighbors told The Post on Saturday, describing her as someone with a “very good character.”
“Nobody is supposed to have their life taken, whether they’re good or bad,” one neighbor said. “But she was kind of exceptional to me, based on how I interacted with her.”
“It’s sad, man, because they’re good neighbors,” the man said of Suarez and her partner. “They’re constantly walking by, and they treat people with respect.”
Neighbors said Suarez worked as a teller at a nearby bank branch. She was left brain dead after the attack.
“A good teller with good character, you understand? She looked like a very family-oriented woman,” one neighbor said.
Another local who had known Suarez for several years described her as “a very soft-spoken girl” who was “very nice,” adding that what happened was “very sad for her.”
“I’m very sad. That’s terrible. I’m sad for everybody,” local resident Anna Dece said.
“But this is close. It’s too much right now. It’s a mad world,” she added.
Police said the runner was stabbed in the neck near Bay 17th Street and Shore Parkway in Bath Beach shortly after 8 p.m. Friday.
According to police sources, Suarez’s father found her on the path after going out to look for her.
She was taken to NYU Langone Hospital in critical condition and was declared brain dead Saturday, police sources said.
