Man charged with making several death threats to federal politician

A man from Western Sydney is facing serious allegations after reportedly issuing death threats against a federal politician.

The 43-year-old is accused of making multiple threatening phone calls to the politician’s office, during which he purportedly expressed intentions to cause harm.

The politician targeted in these threats has not been publicly identified.

Authorities believe these menacing calls occurred on or before December 16. In response to a formal complaint, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) conducted a search at a residence in Greystanes, where they seized various electronic devices as part of their investigation.

A report was made to the Australian Federal Police (AFP), who searched a Greystanes home and found several electronic devices.

The man was issued with a court attendance notice and will appear before Parramatta Local Court today to face a charge of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

If found guilty, the man could face up to five years' imprisonment.
