A woman from Florida faces attempted murder charges after authorities reported that she assaulted her boyfriend with a machete following a dispute over photos on her cellphone.

Liz Frechel, aged 49, was apprehended on Friday and is currently detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without the option for bail. As detailed in an arrest report accessed by Law&Crime, the incident unfolded Thursday night at a Texas Roadhouse in Miami. While dining, her boyfriend allegedly discovered images on Frechel’s phone depicting her in an embrace and holding hands with another man.

In a fit of anger, he exited the restaurant, leaving Frechel behind. According to police reports, he later returned to her apartment to return some of her belongings.

The report further explains that the boyfriend intended to leave Frechel’s possessions on an air conditioning unit outside the apartment before heading home. However, realizing he forgot his car keys among the items, he had to go back. By then, Frechel had already retrieved her belongings and taken them inside. When he attempted to enter the apartment, she allegedly tried to block him.

Once inside, the boyfriend spotted his keys on the bed. Authorities claim that Frechel subsequently locked him in her bedroom. She purportedly said, “You are not going anywhere, you son of a b—. You’re going to pay.” Frechel then allegedly retrieved a machete from her closet.

The arrest report continues, stating that the boyfriend attempted to grab his keys and flee. However, Frechel allegedly swung the machete at him, injuring his right elbow while yelling, “I’m going to kill you, you son of a b—!” In a desperate bid for safety, the boyfriend managed to escape the apartment and return to his vehicle. He drove himself to a hospital, where he received treatment for a severe cut on his elbow.

Police spoke to another resident of the apartment complex where Frechel lived, who said she heard “a female yelling, items being thrown, and later heard a male crying” before seeing a man run out of Frechel’s apartment. According to the report, police attempted to make contact with Frechel while they were at the apartment, but were unsuccessful.

Officers went back to Frechel’s apartment on Friday to execute a search warrant. Frechel was arrested, and police said she refused to provide a statement after being read her rights. She was charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment. Her next court date is scheduled for Nov. 25.
