Sydney shootings and fire bombings believed to be linked to organised crime network

Authorities suspect a purported crime syndicate in Sydney is linked to a series of three shootings that occurred overnight, raising concerns of potential retaliatory actions.

The alleged incidents commenced when gunfire erupted at a residence in Casula, located in Western Sydney, shortly after midnight. This initial event triggered a chain of retaliatory attacks targeting various shops and homes, continuing into the early hours of the morning.

Police have identified the Alameddine family, alleged to be involved in organized crime, as central figures in these violent episodes.

Following the third shooting, officers observed a black Range Rover traveling along Woodville Road in Merrylands. When the vehicle failed to comply with a stop order, a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit was called off when the Range Rover displayed “erratic and dangerous” driving behavior, according to officer Box.

The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in Smithfield, leading to the arrest of two individuals nearby: a 17-year-old male and a 21-year-old male.

They have been taken to Cabramatta Police Station, where charges are expected to be laid.

It is not known which shootings they were involved in, but they are believed to be connected to some of them.

A gun was also found in the car.

Police believe more people were involved in the shootings, but they have not been found yet.
