Ella Langley forced to cancel concert due to 'serious security threat'

Ella Langley has called off her Friday night concert at Tulsa’s BOK Center.

The 27-year-old country singer, whose hit “Choosin’ Texas” has dominated the charts, shared the news on social media and pointed to what she described as a “serious security threat.”

Langley said the cancellation followed concerns about the safety of her fans, venue employees and touring crew. According to her statement, the decision was made after discussions with local authorities, BOK Center officials and her security team.

The singer apologized to those who had spent money, traveled and made plans to attend, stressing that canceling the performance was not a decision she made easily.

She added that she had been eager to perform for the Tulsa crowd, but said protecting everyone involved mattered more than going ahead with the concert. “I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way,” she wrote.

Tulsa police later described the incident as a ‘false bomb threat call’. Officers searched the venue with K-9 units and reported finding no evidence of an actual danger.

Tulsa police captain Richard Meulenberg offered a different account in a Facebook video, saying officers told Langley’s team that they had found no credible threat connected to the event. He said the performer’s representatives chose to cancel despite that assessment.

Meulenberg emphasized that police would not advise an event to be canceled unless they believed a credible threat existed, adding that the final decision rested with Langley’s team.

The BOK Center, in a statement reposted by Langley, said the cancellation was made after weighing the safety of concertgoers, venue staff and the artist.

“The safety and well-being of everyone involved is our absolute priority,” the venue said, explaining that the show could not go forward after careful consideration.

Officials acknowledged the frustration for fans who had planned to attend and apologized, reiterating that audience safety would remain the venue’s top concern.

The BOK Center said details about ticket refunds would be announced at a later time.

Langley’s breakout track “Choosin’ Texas” spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 before Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” recently ended its run.

That achievement established Langley as the solo female artist with the longest consecutive reign at the top of the chart.

The singer-songwriter is currently on her Dandelion Tour and appeared at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Wednesday.

She wrote online: 'Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight's show'
