Kelly Siegler is returning to television.
The seasoned prosecutor will be back on Oxygen for a new season of the true-crime series Prosecuting Evil with Kelly Siegler.
Season 3 premieres Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and once again puts Siegler at the center of some of America’s most notorious murder investigations and dramatic courtroom battles. This season, she offers her sharp legal perspective on infamous cases ranging from an apparently untouchable serial killer still at large to a woman who said she killed her boyfriend in self-defense using the heel of a stiletto.
According to a press release, “The series explores a mix of Siegler’s own cases and other impactful trials she watched unfold during her career, with each case offering a unique legal focus.” The release adds, “In each episode, Kelly shares why these cases were significant and how they helped change laws, shape the judicial landscape and forge new approaches to investigating and prosecuting crimes.”
Across the new episodes, Siegler examines the crucial legal tactics, courtroom arguments and prosecutorial decisions that helped move cases forward and seek justice for victims and their families.
“These crimes have changed lives, changed laws, and even changed me,” Siegler says in the trailer for the upcoming season. “This is not just a job. You carry the victims and their loved ones with you every step of the way. But one thing I can tell you: justice never comes without a fight.”
Siegler, a former Chief of the Special Crimes Bureau for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, is also known for leading Oxygen’s Cold Justice. Over the course of her career, she has tried roughly 200 cases, including 68 murder cases and 20 capital murder cases — experience that has given her a rare window into homicide investigations and the minds of killers.
As Siegler puts it in the promo, “To prosecute murder cases, you’ve got to be ready for anything.”
The season will kick off with a two-hour premiere that delves into the infamous Texas Seven, a name given to a group of prisoners who pulled off the largest prison break in the state’s history.
“Seven inmates escape from a high-security Texas prison and launch a violent crime spree,” reads an episode description,“culminating in the brutal ambush and killing of Irving police officer Aubrey Hawkins on Christmas Eve.”
