A California plastic surgeon who gave up her medical license after a fatal cosmetic procedure has been found dead in a backyard swimming pool.
The Kern County Coroner identified the woman as 71-year-old Sarwa Aldoori, who was discovered Tuesday evening at a residence on Pineglen Drive in Bakersfield, according to KGET.
Bakersfield police said the case remains under investigation, and officials have not yet determined the cause, manner or full circumstances of Aldoori’s death.
Aldoori had practiced for roughly 35 years as an OB-GYN and was one of two doctors at Bella Health and Beauty, a cosmetic surgery clinic in northeast Bakersfield.
Her work focused on women’s health, wellness services and cosmetic procedures.
Her death follows her March 2024 surrender of her California physician’s license, which came after disciplinary proceedings tied to the death of a patient.
Records from the California Medical Board indicate Aldoori was initially placed on seven years of probation before regulators alleged she violated the conditions, eventually resulting in the surrender of her license.
The disciplinary matter was based on allegations filed in 2021 involving a liposuction and tummy tuck procedure performed on a patient who died in April 2016.
State records alleged Aldoori did not have sufficient training to perform the operation. The patient reportedly died from a fat embolism—a condition in which fat globules enter the bloodstream.
