A water-gun prank in Florida took a frightening turn when a real firearm was drawn.
Authorities said a Port St. Lucie man pointed a handgun at a group of teenagers after one of them shot water pellets at his vehicle, apparently mistaking it for a friend’s car.
According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, a 15-year-old boy was riding with friends on the evening of July 1 when he fired an Orbeez-style blaster at a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Gregory Allen Davis.
“Police, please, we’re being shot at,” Davis said during a 911 call, according to authorities. His fiancée also told dispatchers the shots appeared to be coming from what she believed was a BB gun.
Police said Davis then followed the teens’ vehicle while yelling at them to “pull over now,” an exchange also captured in the 911 recording.

After the teenagers stopped, Davis allegedly drew a 9mm handgun and ordered them to “get the f–k out of the car,” according to police and witness video from the scene.
Officers arrived shortly afterward, de-escalated the confrontation, secured Davis’ firearm and placed him under arrest.
“Why are we pointing guns at kids?” a Port St. Lucie police officer can be heard asking Davis on body-worn camera footage before taking possession of the pistol.
An investigation by officers on the scene quickly pieced together that the teens had shot at Davis’ car under the impression that the vehicle was that of a friend who they’d been trying to prank, police said.
They also realized that the gun being used wasn’t a BB gun – but a glorified water gun.
Cops later charged Davis with aggravated assault and false imprisonment of a child. The teenage Orbeez shooter was hit with a charge for throwing a missile at an occupied vehicle.
Davis could not be reached for comment. His attorney did not respond for a request for comment by time of publication.
