Hasan Piker’s outspoken admiration for communist China is not shared by at least one person close to him: his mother.
Sedef Piker, an architectural historian and the mother of the high-profile political streamer, told Rolling Stone in a profile of her son that she is “not in love with China like he is.”
Her comment stands in contrast to Hasan Piker’s repeated praise for the People’s Republic of China, which he has discussed enthusiastically on his livestreams.
During a two-week trip to China in November 2025, the 35-year-old influencer described the communist country as “f—ing sick” while speaking to viewers.
“It’s f–king sick, okay? You have abundance-style consumption paired up with a centrally controlled economy and economic system that has yielded tremendous development,” Piker said during the livestream.
He continued by pointing to the country’s stark contrasts, saying, “You have 1950s Soviet-era building blocks next to the Gucci store. If there was ever a country that represented the synthesis of the things that I enjoy so much personally, if ever such a country existed, I do not know.”
Piker also used the trip to praise Mao Zedong, the former chairman of the Chinese Communist Party and founder of the People’s Republic of China. Mao’s rule has been widely associated with policies that led to the starvation deaths of millions.
“Mao Zedong is one of the great leaders of this world, OK? A man who changed the entire universe, the entire planet,” Hasan said.
The streamer also bizarrely claimed that he’d “become Chinese.”
“In my heart, in my soul, in my mind, in my conscience, I have already become Chinese,” he said during the trip.
While Piker made no secret of his love for China, he has had much more damning things to say about the US — the nation where he was born and lives.
The champagne socialist — who drives a $200,000 Porsche — distubingly crowed that “amercia deserved 9/11” back in 2019.
He has also come under fire for saying that it “doesn’t matter if rapes happened on Oct. 7,” referring to the Hamas terror attack against Israel that killed more than 1,200 people.
Besides her son’s Sinophilia, Sedef Piker also told the magazine that she wished he would tone it down and not joke so much online.
“I worry about him. The internet is a very savage place,” the mom said.
One point of contention she no longer has with her son, however, is his decision to stop taking risque shirtless photos in the bathroom.
“I’m glad we’ve moved from naked pictures to suits,” she joked.
