A mass shooting at a busy lounge in New York City resulted in at least three fatalities and eight injuries, as authorities continue the search for multiple suspects, officials reported Sunday morning.
Shots were fired around 3:30 a.m. at Taste of the City located in the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn following a dispute, NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated during a news briefing.
Officers responded within minutes to multiple 911 calls and found 11 gunshot victims ranging in age from 27 to 61, Tisch said.
Three victims, two men aged 27 and 35, along with a third male whose age is unknown, were declared deceased. The other eight victims are receiving treatment at local hospitals for injuries considered non-life-threatening, Tisch noted.
Investigators were canvassing available CCTV footage around the lounge and discovered at least 36 shell casings at the scene.
A firearm was recovered near the scene, and police are investigating whether it was used in the shooting.
No further details were immediately provided.
