A parking dispute in Manhattan’s East Village spiraled into a caught-on-camera street fight between a skateboarder and the driver of a Mercedes SUV, police sources told The Post.
The confrontation unfolded around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday on St. Marks Place near Second Avenue, where the skateboarder and a companion were allegedly standing in a coveted parking space to hold it for someone else when the motorist tried to pull in, according to sources.
Video that later spread on X shows the skateboarder striking the luxury SUV’s side window with his board before hurling the board at the vehicle.
The 34-year-old driver, whose name was not released, then got out of the Mercedes and chased after the skateboarder, eventually grabbing the board and attempting to swing it at him outside Mamoun’s Falafel, the footage shows.
The skater quickly regained control of the board and used it to hit the driver in the head before the two grappled on the sidewalk, with the skateboarder ultimately placing the man in a standing chokehold, according to the video.

An NYPD spokesman confirmed the driver had been trying to park in the space when the altercation began.
The footage also shows damage to the SUV, including a shattered front windshield, after the clash.
Police said the skateboarder rode away from the scene, while the driver was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
There were no arrests as of Saturday afternoon as cops were still hunting for the skateboarder.
