In a tragic incident in Washington state, a semi-truck driver has been apprehended following a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 29-year-old man. The driver, Kamalpreet Singh, is reportedly an illegal immigrant from India. Sources reveal that Singh was initially detained at the Arizona border by U.S. Border Patrol agents but was subsequently released by the Biden administration.

Singh’s arrest stems from a vehicular homicide charge after he allegedly collided with a car on State Route 167. This crash resulted in the death of Robert B. Pearson, a young man whose vehicle was crushed between two trucks. The incident has raised questions about immigration policies and their implications for public safety.

According to reports, Singh was apprehended after entering the United States illegally near Lukeville, Arizona, on December 23, 2023. Despite being detained, he was not held in custody and was instead released into the country, a decision that has since garnered significant attention and scrutiny.

The fatal crash occurred when Singh’s semi-truck struck the rear of a blue 2010 Mazda 3 sedan. The Mazda, driven by Pearson, was stopped behind a white 2016 Peterbilt truck at the time. The impact caused the Mazda to be sandwiched between the two larger vehicles, leading to a fire in the engine compartment. Thankfully, the flames were quickly extinguished, but the damage had already been done.

As investigations continue, this case highlights critical discussions surrounding immigration enforcement and public safety, drawing widespread concern and debate across the nation.

Singh and the Peterbilt driver were not injured. The Washington State Patrol said drugs and alcohol were not involved, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.

ICE has placed a detainer on Singh with local law enforcement in King County, Washington. Fox News Digital has reached out to WSP for comment.

Singh is not believed to have any relation to two other Indian illegal immigrant truck drivers with the same last name—Jashanpreet Singh in California and Harjinder Singh in Florida—who are facing charges in separate fatal crashes.
