AT least 20 people have been injured after a vehicle ploughed into a crowd in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that several individuals were injured at the Santa Monica Boulevard incident, where an “unidentified vehicle” allegedly struck a group of people.
Reports indicate that as many as five individuals are in critical condition, with an additional eight to ten experiencing serious injuries, and approximately twelve sustaining minor injuries.
Disturbing videos from the site reveal numerous individuals lying on the pavement near a damaged grey car that had veered onto the sidewalk in front of The Vermont establishment.
The video shows wounded pedestrians receiving treatment from bystanders, while others stand with their heads in their hands.
Dozens of people are milling around outside a gas station next door, and debris litters the street.
The fire department said: “LAFD is coordinating patient triage and transport at this time.”
LAFD identified a spot near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Vermont Avenue as the scene of the incident.
Unconfirmed eyewitness reports suggest that violence broke out amongst a crowd, followed by a shooting.
Police received a 911 call about reports of shots fired during a fight involving 15 people.
Live footage from the scene shows dozens of emergency responders and people lying on the road.
