Woman Grazed as Third Brooklyn Bystander Shot in 48 Hours

A woman was struck by a grazing bullet on a Brooklyn sidewalk Monday, becoming at least the third unintended victim wounded by gunfire in the borough in under two days.

Police said the 52-year-old was walking near the Glenwood Houses NYCHA development in Flatlands at about 1:10 p.m. when a bullet grazed her left arm.

Three male suspects were seen fleeing the area on scooters after shots rang out, sources said.

Emergency crews responded to Ralph Avenue and took the woman to Brookdale Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD confirmed to The Post that the woman was an innocent bystander.

Despite the incident, year-to-date NYPD crime data shows shooting incidents in the 63rd Precinct, which covers the area where the gunfire occurred, are down 60% compared with the same period in 2025.

Still, Monday’s shooting came on the heels of another devastating case involving a bystander: Sofronie Hartzog, a mother of five, died after being struck by a stray bullet over the weekend and bleeding out inside the bathroom of a Crown Heights bar.

That fatal shooting unfolded around 2:23 a.m. Sunday outside the Ooh La La Lounge near Bergen Street and Howard Avenue, where police said a fight broke out among a crowd of roughly 100 people.

An errant bullet struck Hartzog in the back and a 34-year-old man in the gut — both unintended targets, police said.

Hartzog ran into the bar, where she collapsed in a restroom.

First responders rushed her to Brookdale Medical Center, but she died from her injuries.

“They killed her, that’s what happened,” her grieving aunt, Melinda Hartzog, told The Post.

“She was the best person in the world,” she said, adding that her niece left behind five children.

Neighbor Jennifer Ortiz described the slain victim as a doting mom, always putting her well-behaved kids in nice outfits.
