Micah Richards stunned Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer after making a huge revelation about his career that affected him in every game.

The former Manchester City star is probably better known to some younger supporters for his hilarious punditry rather than his playing career after retiring at the age of just 31.

However, as a two-time Premier League winner, FA Cup and League Cup champion, Richards boasts a trophy cabinet that few players can.

He has since forged a hugely successful career as a pundit on flagship football programmes, but shocked Lineker and Shearer with his latest revelation.

The former England international revealed on the Rest is Football podcast alongside the two Premier League legends that he struggled to see the ball when playing and had to rely on guessing where it was.

‘I’m not exaggerating, I swear, I could only see the ball when it was about five or ten yards in front of me. I just had to sort of guess,’ said Richard.

‘I used to anticipate where the ball was going to be. I used to take my position based off where the striker was rather than where the ball is,’ he added.

One possible correction that could have resolved the issue for Richards is wearing contact lenses – similar to Cristiano Ronaldo – but the Englishman revealed they hurt his eyes too much.

A shocked Lineker was aghast after hearing Richards’ admission and replied: ‘You’re joking,’ Lineker replied, before Shearer joked: ‘No wonder you made so many f****** mistakes!’

BBC Match of the Day host, Lineker then told Richards: ‘Lineker then made the point: ‘Micah, you could have been one of the greatest defenders of all time if you could see!’

The trio were in fits of laughter throughout the exchange as a spectacle-wearing Richards moved the conversation on.
