Dylan Dreyer has taken a definitive step forward by filing for divorce from her estranged husband, Brian Fichera. This move comes eight months after the initial announcement of their unexpected separation.
The 44-year-old host of the Today show had previously opened up about the reasons behind their split, revealing in July 2025 that she and Fichera had decided to part ways after being married since 2012.
Official divorce documents were submitted last week on March 10, according to a report by Us Weekly.
Efforts to obtain comments from Dreyer’s representatives by the Daily Mail have so far been unsuccessful.
Dreyer and Fichera are parents to three children: Calvin, aged nine, Oliver, who is six, and Russell, four. Following the separation, Dreyer relocated with her children to Long Island.
A source informed Us Weekly that Dreyer and her sons are “thriving” in their new environment, having settled into “a great new routine” post-separation.

‘She loves her job and loves that she can be home with the kids after school. She’s very involved,’ the insider added.
Their split had been ‘painful’ for Dreyer and the Today co-host ‘struggled with the idea of starting over and having this new life after being married for so many years.’
However, she has garnered ‘support’ from those around her while putting her main focus to raising her children.
Last year in July, Dreyer took to her main Instagram page to announce that both she and Fichera had separated months earlier.
She uploaded a photo of a sunset while adding the text: ‘For many years I have shared my family with you all – the highs and lows. The ups and downs. And all of the blessings and beautiful memories in between.
‘I am incredibly grateful for the support and love you’ve given me through it all. For that reason, I want to share with you that a few months ago, Brian and I made the decision to separate.’
The media personality further revealed that despite the split, both she and Fichera plan to maintain a positive co-parenting relationship.
‘We began as friends, and we will remain the closest of friends. Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for one another. Thank you as always for your support.’

Late last year in November, Dreyer opened up about the split while on the Today show. and said both she and Fichera had ‘reframed our relationship.’
‘We’re no longer husband and wife. And all those things that were broken – I don’t hold them against you.’
She added, ‘Because we’ve accepted they’re broken. That’s why we separated. Now let’s move forward as friends.’
The TV personality added that she also no longer gets ‘mad at those other things that I was getting mad at before, because just like a friend you give them a little more grace when you’re not married to it.’
Dreyer expressed that she feels like she can be a ‘better friend’ to Fichera ‘than a wife.’
She also explained that both parents will be in their children’s lives moving forward in the future.
‘I want their dad in their life. They need that. They need both the dynamic of a mother and a father, and we’re providing that to them in the best way possible.’
The meteorologist first crossed paths with Fichera in the early 2000s when they were both working at a news station located in Boston.

In a past blog for Good Housekeeping, Dreyer recalled how their friendship developed into a romance, per Us Weekly.
‘After a few years, we had a small party at Brian’s house which we dubbed the Jammy Jam.’
The star added, ‘It was then that I realized I had totally fallen for him and from there it was history!’
