According to authorities, Burgos admitted to acquiring the firearm in Merrillville, Indiana, on behalf of her then-boyfriend.
While the boyfriend remains unnamed in the criminal charges, prosecutors revealed that Burgos disclosed his status as a convicted felon and that he financed the firearm purchase.
Burgos further confessed to federal agents about her fentanyl addiction, admitting she was under the influence during the gun purchase, despite indicating otherwise on the legal paperwork.

The circumstances surrounding how Alphanso Talley, the alleged shooter, obtained the firearm and managed to bring it into Swedish Hospital on the day of the incident remain a mystery.
Sources tell ABC7, Talley was likely searched three times without a weapon being detected. They said they believe Talley may have hid the gun in his body.
Talley is due back in court Thursday in connection with the shooting that killed Officer Bartholomew and seriously injured his partner, who’s still in the hospital.
As for Burgos, her court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in Hammond.
Similar charges were also filed after the murder of Chicago police officer Ella French, as well.
