New York City is taking a playful shot at the Knicks fan who turned a trash can into parade loot.
The Sanitation Department is giving away five Knicks-themed litter baskets in honor of the team’s NBA Finals victory — while also throwing a clear jab at the infamous JP Morgan executive who became an internet sensation after swiping one from the parade route.
“No Need to Knick a Bin,” the department quipped in its promotion for the giveaway. “The DSNY is giving away 5 Commemorative Knicks-Themed Litter Baskets.”
Unlike the “incredibly stupid” paradegoer, the five selected fans will not have to yank a full-size blue-and-orange basket from the curb, spill garbage across the pavement or haul it back home on the subway.
“Fouling up our sidewalks and stealing public property should always be out of bounds in New York City,” DSNY Commissioner Gregory Anderson said.
“There is no need to lift bins off the street. DSNY is thrilled to turn over five brand-new litter baskets to lucky Knicks fans, the same heavy baskets we use on the streets. Continue celebrating our championship team by going online today to enter – and leave the basket-tipping to New York’s Strongest.”
The contest will award just five baskets in total, with recipients picked through a random drawing.
Each giveaway bin stands 28 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds, matching the size of the litter baskets found along New York City streets — though these will be fresh from the source.

The winners must be New Yorkers, 18 and older and be able to pick it up from the department’s lower Manhattan office, DSNY said.
Applications must be submitted before 5 p.m. on July 3 at on.nyc.gov/basketgiveaway.
Winners will be selected later in the summer.
Losers can buy their own, smaller Knicks-themed bins from Only NY for $168.
The contest is the second time DSNY has ribbed the boneheaded Knicks fan who went viral for stealing a team-themed city trash can has returned the stolen goods — and was slapped with $175 in fines for the dirty deed.
The department shared a picture of the basket at its Financial District office after it was finally returned last week.
“Home sweet home,” the sanitation department said on X. “Welcome back! We missed you!”
The orange and blue receptacle was pilfered after an “incredibly stupid” fan — identified by sources as recently axed JPMorgan Chase exec Angie Baez — dumped the trash onto Broadway and walked off with the city-owned receptacle, department officials told The Post.
She was later snapped on the subway still lugging the basket.
