GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Sixteen-year-old Kyllian Rober Doby is being prosecuted as an adult after deputies say he jumped a fence into a resident’s yard and pointed a gun at the victim.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy was called to a home in Holly Heights North at about 6:57 p.m. on May 29. The victim told the deputy he was sitting in his wheelchair near the fence in his yard when two males climbed over the fence. According to the victim, one of them pointed a gun at him, causing him to fear for his life. He described the armed subject as wearing a tan hoodie and black pants and said the weapon appeared to be a black handgun with an extended magazine.
The victim’s wife and son reportedly drove down the road, found the two males, and recorded video of them. One was wearing a tan hoodie with black pants, while the other was wearing a dark green shirt, gray sweatpants, and a black bag. The second male was later determined to be 13 years old, and records do not indicate that he has been charged with any crime.
A deputy later located Doby and turned on the emergency lights of her marked patrol vehicle, but Doby allegedly ran. Deputies found him nearby wearing white shorts and no shirt, and he reportedly apologized for fleeing from them.
Deputies reportedly recovered a handgun at the scene that matched the description given by the victim. The victim also positively identified Doby as the person who had pointed the gun at him. A deputy noted that Doby appeared to be the male in the video wearing the tan hoodie.
Doby has been charged as an adult with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent. He has multiple juvenile convictions, though the specific charges are not currently available, and he was on juvenile probation when he was arrested. Bail listed in his arrest warrant was set at $150,000; this article will be updated tomorrow with more specific information.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
