Dancing with the Stars delivered another surprise elimination as its second week came to a close on Tuesday night.
Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis, 56, and her professional partner Alan Bersten were eliminated, making her the third celebrity to leave season 35. Meanwhile, Step Up star Jenna Dewan, 45, surged into a three-way tie for the top score.
“I think I tried my best,” De Laurentiis said after her elimination. “It wasn’t best enough, but I tried my best.”
The competition returned with Viral Hits Night, sending the celebrities onto the dance floor to perform chart-topping songs before receiving feedback and scores from judges Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.
De Laurentiis performed a salsa to Becky G’s “CHULA,” incorporating flips and lifts into the routine. However, the daring choreography did not translate into a high score from the judges.
Tonioli described the routine as a “salsa without spice,” while Hough said he wanted to see “a little more power.” Inaba also called the performance “shaky.”
