Parenting influencer's daughter, two, dies in horror accident at home

A Georgia family is mourning the death of two-year-old Rose Morton, who drowned in the swimming pool at her family’s $835,000 home after she reportedly went outside into the backyard on her own.

Her father, Jamal Morton, a parenting and comedy content creator known online as J’Amore or Mr Jay, shared the devastating news following the incident at his home in Hoschton, an Atlanta suburb, on Tuesday.

In an emotional post, Morton wrote: “I lost my daughter. She thought she was a big girl and could swim all by herself. She walked out of the house and got into the pool where she drowned.”

He continued with a heartbreaking message for his little girl: “I hope heaven is real because I can’t imagine you being all alone by yourself. So God, if you’re real, please watch over my baby. Rest in Peace, my sweet angel. Daddy loves you forever, Rose.”

The exact time of Rose’s death has not been confirmed. The Daily Mail has contacted the Hall County Sheriff’s Office for additional information.

Morton, whose online videos often feature his unfenced pool in the background, has asked supporters for donations to help cover funeral expenses as well as the cost of relocating his family.

“We have to move away because we can’t live in that house anymore, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to work anytime soon. Anything helps,” he wrote.

Morton posted videos of little Rose taking some of her first steps in April 2025, as she teetered near the edge of the pool while trying to walk towards her father’s arms.

The father-of-six is taking a break from social media while he tries to cope with this devastating loss.

‘Losing a child is a pain I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy,’ he wrote on Facebook late Monday night. ‘I hate to make this post but yall won’t be seeing me for a while. I have to take a break.’

Despite the announcement, videos continue to be posted to his social media pages.

His management team said they are currently monitoring the accounts and that Morton is ‘not online, posting content, responding to messages, or actively managing his pages.’

‘Management is keeping his platforms running while he and his family take time to grieve the heartbreaking loss of their baby girl,’ his team said.

‘This is an incredibly difficult time, and we ask for your understanding, prayers, and respect for their privacy as they navigate this unimaginable loss.’

Morton, 33, launched his TikTok page in 2022. He has gained viral fame for posting comedy content about parenting and his family life, including skits about kids trying to sneak out of the house or wanting tattoos.

He has since amassed more than 1.1 million followers on the platform, as well as a large following on Instagram and Facebook.

His children, including Rose, regularly appear in his videos.

Morton declined to comment to the Daily Mail on the tragedy.

He is one of several influencers who have lost a child to tragic pool drowning.

Emilie Kiser’s three-year-old son, Trigg, died on May 18, 2025, six days after he was found unresponsive in the family’s backyard pool in Chandler, Arizona.

Kiser’s husband Brady had been looking after both Trigg and the couple’s newborn son Teddy at the time while the TikTokker was out with friends.

Brady initially told police that he lost sight of the toddler for three to five minutes. However, police said video evidence showed that the boy was left unsupervised for over nine minutes ‘and in the water for about seven of those minutes.’

Following a two-month investigation, Brady was not charged in relation to the death of his son, despite the Chandler Police Department recommending a felony child abuse charge.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office released a statement on July 25, writing in a statement that there was ‘no likelihood of conviction’ against him.

Olympic skier Bode Miller and his mommy influencer wife, Morgan, lost their daughter Emeline in June 2018 after she wandered, unnoticed, into a neighbor’s backyard and drowned in their pool.

Morgan, who was sat chatting with her friend, thought the 19-month-old had been playing indoors. By the time she registered that everything was just too quiet, it was too late.

The influencer plunged into the pool and pulled Emeline out.

The little girl had a faint pulse and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but her brain had been deprived of oxygen too long. Emeline was pronounced dead the next day.

It is unclear if charges have been brought against Morton or his wife, Jessica.

Under Georgia law, prosecutors can pursue criminal charges against parents if it is determined the negligence lead to a child’s death.

Past child drowning cases in Georgia have resulted in guardians being charged with felony murder, cruelty to children and involuntary manslaughter.
