Erika Kirk Rushed Out of WHCD After Shooting: 'I Just Want to Go Home'

Erika Kirk found herself abruptly whisked away from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel, as the evening took a terrifying turn. Gunfire erupted on Saturday night, leaving the Turning Point USA CEO visibly shaken. “I just want to go home,” she lamented, as security escorted her from the scene.

In a distressing video, Kirk, the widow of the late conservative figure Charlie Kirk, tearfully repeated her desire to leave. This followed an alarming security breach by the suspected shooter, Cole Allen, who reportedly carried a shotgun, handgun, and several knives into the venue. The chaos unfolded just moments after President Donald Trump arrived at the dinner, which was being held in the hotel’s ballroom.

President Trump, alongside First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President JD Vance, was rapidly evacuated, highlighting the gravity of the situation. The event, which draws numerous high-profile figures and top White House officials, quickly descended into panic.

The disturbing incident occurred just over seven months after Charlie Kirk was tragically killed during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University on September 10. This backdrop of violence added an extra layer of distress to an already harrowing night.

In the immediate aftermath, attendees, including many D.C. reporters, scrambled for safety, ducking under tables amid the chaos, fearing further violence might ensue. The evening’s unsettling turn of events left a stark imprint on all present, underscoring the unpredictability of such high-profile gatherings.

President Trump, first lady Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance, among a slew of other senior White House officials, were urgently evacuated from the high-profile event after the alleged gunman opened fire.

Other alarmed guests — including D.C. reporters — were seen ducking under tables after the shooting erupted, in likely anticipation of more to come.

As – News reported, the 31-year-old suspected shooter wrote a manifesto and attended a No King’s protest, according to a senior Trump administration official.

Trump addressed the public after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting, saying the proposed White House ballroom would be drone- and bulletproof and a much more secure venue for important events, such as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told NBC News that it appears Allen traveled from Los Angeles to Chicago, then to Washington, DC, via train and checked into the Hilton a day or two before the event.
