Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) used an appearance Wednesday on MS NOW’s “The Briefing” to deliver a sharp critique of President Donald Trump, arguing that the president has “jumped the shark.”
Ossoff said Americans should view the moment as “a call to action,” particularly as the country approaches the 250th anniversary of its founding, which he framed as a rejection of monarchy and rule by kings. He accused Trump of turning national events into displays of personal vanity, saying they were being “hijacked by the narcissism of the president,” who, in Ossoff’s words, presents himself “most like a king.” The Georgia Democrat also criticized what he described as no-bid contracts and “sale of access” corruption, calling them familiar features of Trump-era politics. “I think the Trump show has jumped the shark,” Ossoff said, adding that he believes fewer Americans are paying attention because Trump has “lost it.” He further argued that the president has been rattled by what Ossoff characterized as “global humiliation in the Middle East.”

Ossoff went on to point to Trump’s 34% approval rating and said Americans are struggling with higher costs for groceries, health care and rent while the president focuses on building “a monument to himself” and adding gold trim to his office. He also claimed that Trump’s actions have put cancer patients at risk of losing their health insurance. “He has cemented his place in history in disgrace,” Ossoff said. The senator closed by urging what he called “patriotic Americans” to channel the spirit of the nation’s founding and work to restore checks and balances in the fall, emphasizing that the Georgia race would be a decisive one.
