CHICAGO () — The Chicago Police Department’s men’s and women’s soccer clubs are rallying support in Chicago for victims of a devastating 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia earlier this week.
The fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 23, at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7, located at 1412 W. Washington Blvd. in Chicago.

The powerful earthquake hit the South American nation on Monday, killing more than 280 people and leaving hundreds still unaccounted for.
By Thursday, officials said the confirmed death toll had climbed to 281, while rescue crews had pulled 348 people to safety as search-and-recovery efforts continued.
David Santiago Tamayo, director of Colombia’s National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, said more than 3,900 people were injured. Nearly 12,600 homes were destroyed, and more than 74,800 others sustained damage.
